Last Weekend: Festival of Regions 2009 - NormalityThe Festival of Regions has been taking place since 1993 every two years at changing locations in the federal state of Upper Austria, and since then has developed into a focal contemporary event for present-day, site-specific art and culture. In 2009, in collaboration with Linz 2009 Cultural Capital of Europe, the Festival of Regions is orienting itself toward the southern edge of the city of Linz along the Traun River, with a focus on the satellite city Auwiesen and the residential complexes of solarCity. Away from the inner-city orientation towards density, utilization and entertainment, and at a certain safe distance from spectacles propagated on all sides, the Festival of Regions is interested in the factual or perceived normality of urban life.
