nominees’ exhibitions in eight countries

www.essl.museum

The Essl Art Award CEE, awarded biennially since 2005, is open for young artists at the outset of their careers in Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Czech Republic, Turkey and Hungary. It is endowed by the Essl Museum and the main shareholder of Vienna Insurance Group. In each country, a nominees’ exhibition presents ten artists out of more than 500 entries for the award 2015. The award winners are selected by a jury under the chair of René Block, consisting of one art expert per country, as well as curators from the Essl Museum and from Vienna Insurance Group/Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein. At the opening event, two artists receive the Essl Art Award CEE, which is endowed with 3,500 EUR per artist and includes an invitation to the group exhibition Diversity of Voices held at the Essl Museum (4 December 2015–6 March 2016). The VIG special invitation from Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, the main shareholder of Vienna Insurance Group, will be extended to one artist per country, a distinction which includes a production fee of 1,000 EUR and a participation in a group exhibition at the Ringturm, the Group’s headquarters in Vienna.
