EXPO CHICAGO, The International Exposition of Contemporary & Modern Art, is pleased to announce an unprecedented list of major institutional alignments with Chicago’s leading organizations, museums, and cultural partners set to open during the third annual exposition, September 18–21, 2014.

“Never in the history of an art fair in Chicago has there been this level of exhibition openings and special events aligning with an exposition,” said EXPO CHICAGO President/Director Tony Karman. “There is no question that EXPO CHICAGO, along with our local cultural institutions, museums, galleries and artists are making a bold declaration that Chicago is the place for the international art world to be this September.”

A panel discussion featuring Laurie Simmons, in conversation with Sara VanDerBeek, Liz Deschenes, and Kate Linker is set to align with the opening reception of Sarah Charlesworth: Stills at the Art Institute of Chicago on Wednesday, September 17, where their critically acclaimed Magritte: The Mystery of the Ordinary 1926–1938 will also be on view. The Sullivan Galleries at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago will present A Proximity of Consciousness: Art and Social Action, curated by Mary Jane Jacob and Kate Zeller, with works included by Jim Duignan, Paul Durica, Pablo Helguera, J. Morgan Puett, Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle, Dan Peterman, Michael Rakowitz, Laurie Jo Reynolds, Temporary Services, and Rirkrit Tiravanija; performances by the artists will take place on Friday, September 19.
