Cardi Black Box, the Milan-based contemporary art gallery, is pleased to present Feral, an exhibition of new work by Los Angeles-based artist Sarah Cain. This exhibition marks the first solo show of Cain’s work in Europe and will feature 11 new mixed-media artworks. Feral opens on September 16 and will remain on view through October 11.

Feral highlights Cain’s exploration of the psychic, physical and emotional space in which her work exists. When speaking about her upcoming presentation of work, she explains, “these paintings move through life at the same speed as we live it. They extend from my body into the world and back through yours. They have stories, but really, who needs the stories. Feel the feral.”

Throughout the exhibition Cain demonstrates her propensity to push the boundaries of painting with works like Floor Sex, a diagonal composition of acrylic, Velcro and pencil on canvas; Black and White Party, a collage of earrings, glitter, gold leaf, chain and acrylic on canvas; and We are here we are heavy we are color, a colorful, geometric arrangement of acrylic, ink and thread on canvas. Explaining her process, she states, “grasp the complexities. Taste the color. To be a painter is to be in it. To experience and create in one breath.”
