Frieze Masters Talks brings together leading international artists and the directors and curators of renowned historical and encyclopedic museums. Frieze Masters is a fair for art from ancient to modern and takes place each October in Regent’s Park, London.

This year’s participants are Beatriz Milhazes with Prof. Martin Roth, Director of the Victoria and Albert Museum, London; John Currin with Letizia Treves, Head of the Curatorial Department and Curator of Italian and Spanish Paintings 1600-1800 at the National Gallery, London; Catherine Opie with Michael Govan, Director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and Richard Wright with Jasper Sharp, Adjunct Curator at the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna.

Frieze Masters Talks programme explores how contemporary artists engage with art throughout the ages. The collections of the respective museums, and the artists’ personal responses to them, will provide the framework for each conversation. Methods of display, exhibition programming and curatorial policy will also be discussed in order to shed light on the significance of such museums and the extent to which historical art continues to exert an influence on contemporary production.

Schedule:
Thursday 17 October, 3pm: Beatriz Milhazes with Prof. Martin Roth

Friday 18 October, 3pm: John Currin with Letizia Treves

Saturday 19 October, 3pm: Catherine Opie with Michael Govan

Sunday 20 October, 3pm: Richard Wright with Jasper Sharp

Frieze Masters Talks is hosted in a bespoke auditorium at the fair. Access to the talks is included in the Frieze Masters admission ticket. Seats for each day’s talks can be booked from 12pm on the day at the auditorium.

Frieze Masters will take place 17 to 20 October 2013 on Gloucester Green, Regent’s Park, London. Featuring over 120 of the world’s leading galleries, Frieze Masters is sponsored by Deutsche Bank.
