This Live and Silent auction collaboration between Project Angel Food, CAA, and a committee of leading gallerists and collectors will celebrate amazing artists and raise money for Project Angel Food. The live auction will be led by Sotheby’s Principal Auctioneer, Tobias Meyer.

Angel Art, a contemporary art auction benefitting Project Angel Food, returns to CAA this month for a live and silent auction on Tuesday, April 23.  Over the past nine years, Angel Art has generated funds for nearly one million meals for Project Angel Food’s meal-delivery program. With 100% of the auction funds directed to the kitchen, Angel Art has a tremendous impact on Project Angel Food’s ability to serve some of the most vulnerable members of the Los Angeles community.

The evening is an intimate event with the auction limited to 16 Live Auction and 33 Silent Auction lots.  The Live Auction will be led by Tobias Meyer, Sotheby’s Worldwide Head of Contemporary Art and Principal Auctioneer, and includes the following artists: Hernan Bas, Mark Bradford, Dan Colen, William Eggleston, Frank Gehry, Marilyn Minter, Dave Muller, Cathy Opie, Jorge Pardo, RETNA, Ed Ruscha, Mark Ryden, Francesco Vezzoli, Andy Warhol and James Welling. A new element to the Live Auction will include an ‘art enthused trip’ for two to Amsterdam for a wonderful four-night stay at the acclaimed Conservatorium Hotel in a Suite; round-trip Business Elite tickets on Delta Air Lines; dinner at Samhoud, a new restaurant by Chef Moshik Roth, which just earned two Michelin Stars for 2013; and personalized consultation with Melissa Schwartz of Destination Happiness to create custom day trips.

The silent auction lots consist of works by the following artists: Uta Barth, Lee Bul, Gillian Carnegie, Denise De La Rue, Kirsten Everberg, Danny First, Alexandra Grant, Jim Hodges, Dennis Hopper, Alex Israel, Chris Johanson and Johanna Jackson, Dennis Koch, Annie Lapin, Daniel Joseph Martinez, Matthias Merkel Hess, Yassi Mezandi, Joel Otterson, Jorge Pardo, Anthony Pearson, Terry Richardson, Willy Rizzo, Kenny Scharf, Richard Serra, Brian Sharp, Julius Shulman and Juergen Nogai, Simmons & Burke, Robert Therrien, Fred Tomaselli, Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, Wayne White and Brenna Youngblood.

“At Project Angel Food we serve the unseen and the easily forgotten: people who are home-bound with a life-threatening illness and suffer from malnutrition,” says Margaret Steele, Chief Executive Officer for Project Angel Food.  “It is so inspiring that such prestigious individuals and companies join together for Angel Art, giving of their time and resources to ensure that Project Angel Food can continue our life-sustaining work. Simply put, Angel Art is crucial for us. It has provided for nearly one million meals over the last nine years and we eagerly look forward to Angel Art 2013, knowing all the healthy meals it will enable us to cook and deliver.”

Online bidding is available through Paddle8 now through Tuesday, April 23rd at 12pm (PST).  Bids will then transfer to the Live Auction and Silent Auction at Angel Art that evening.  Any Live and/or Silent auction bids placed online with Paddle8 will then be represented that evening by Paddle8, which will be in contact with bidders prior to the evening event.

About Project Angel Food
Project Angel Food’s mission is to nourish the bodies and spirits of men, women, and children affected by HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-threatening illnesses.

Project Angel Food cooks and delivers meals designed by registered dietitians and cooked by devoted volunteers and professional chefs with quality ingredients. Our meals are delivered to clients’ homes free-of-charge, and our drivers are often the only human contact a client will have in a day.

In 1989, Project Angel Food was created by a group of caring friends driven to action after witnessing their loved ones’ health deteriorate as a result of disease and the malnutrition that accompanies it.  Twenty-four years later, Project Angel Food is a nationally respected organization with an involved Board of Directors, a professional staff, and more than 3,500 active volunteers. Today, Project Angel Food cooks and delivers more than 600,000 meals a year to people for whom a healthy meal, delivered with a warm smile, is truly life saving.
