Seeking new Director

The world’s leading promotion- and discoverer fair for new galleries and young artists is facing a change in generations. The founder of LISTE Art Fair Basel and its director to date, Peter Bläuer, is retiring from operational management after 23 years and will hand the fair over to a non-profit foundation. We are seeking for the end of the summer 2018 (start is also negotiable) a strong individual to serve as:

Director of LISTE Art Fair Basel (80–100%)
Contemporary art is not only your passion—you also can draw on a rich background of experience in this area. You are familiar and connected with the international art scene and are familiar with the mechanisms of the art market. You have very strong organizational skills and are a master at management and negotiation. You communicate with the art world with the same facility and ease that characterizes your interactions with your team, officials and public agencies as well with all other participants at LISTE in Werkraum Warteck. You are a native speaker of German who can demonstrate oral and written proficiency in English. You see yourself primarily as a facilitator. Thus, you feel especially drawn to this opportunity to lead LISTE on behalf of the foundation, to continue developing the fair, and to design new models for the promotion of galleries and their relatively unknown artists.

As the director, you will be responsible for the operational leadership of the art fair: in organizational, financial and personnel matters—in close collaboration with your five-person team and the owner.
