Talking Galleries—The International Think Tank for Galleries is proud to announce the seventh edition of the Barcelona Symposium to be held at MACBA on January 21 and 22, 2019.

The Barcelona Symposium is a two-day conference, a unique chance for art professionals to get together and share ideas on various aspects of art gallery management. The symposium attracts diverse audience, made up of gallerists, collectors, art journalists, curators, artists, and fair directors, who contribute to the exchange of expertise and relevant knowledge across all sectors of the art business. Adam Sheffer, former President of ADAA and current Vice President of Pace Gallery described it as “a sort of the Davos of the art world, when people can get together globally and talk about issues facing the entire industry.”

To open up the symposium what promises to be a very enticing dialogue between Kenny Schachter, an acclaimed art journalist, and Simon de Pury, world-famous art auctioneer and collector, on the behind the scenes of the art world.

To reflect on the current agenda, the 2019 programme will address strategies for going online, alternative fair models, women artists in the market, Africa’s growing art market, new players on traditional publishing market and creative use of Social Media, among other topics.

Among the participating speakers will be Elizabeth Dee (Independent), Clare McAndrew (Arts Economics), Touria El Glaoui (1:54 Contemporary African Art Fair), JiaJia Fei (The Jewish Museum), Tim Schneider (artnet News), Jane Morris (The Art Newspaper), Georgina Adam (The Art Newspaper) and Melanie Gerlis (Financial Times), who will debate with other key speakers.
