Contemporary artists working at the intersection of inclusivity, diversity, and public space are encouraged to apply by March 31.

Black Cube, a nonprofit, experimental art museum that operates nomadically, is currently accepting project proposals for its Sabrina Merage Foundation Artist Fellowship, a specially named year-long Black Cube Artist Fellowship awarded to a contemporary artist working at the intersection of inclusivity and diversity.

Black Cube nurtures the self-sufficiency of artists and inspires people to discover and appreciate contemporary art beyond traditional white museum and gallery walls. By functioning outside of traditional museum confines, the organization exists primarily through working with contemporary artists to commission site-relational artworks in the public realm.

With professional development support, the Black Cube Fellow will be guided through the production of an ambitious, site-relational artwork. They will receive 10,000 USD towards the funding of a site-specific project and work alongside the museum to determine a location in the United States, produce the artwork, and engage underrepresented audiences.

Black Cube accepts applications from artists representing the widest possible range of perspectives and demographics, particularly welcoming those who engage in the broadest spectrum of artistic practice in order to investigate an unlimited array of inquiries and concerns.

Submission guidelines can be found at blackcube.art.

A PDF project proposal can be submitted to hello [at] blackcube.art with the email subject line “SMF Fellowship Application.” Applicants must be eligible for consideration and proposals must adhere to the Evaluation Criteria and Submission Guidelines. Applicants who are enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs as of the date of application are ineligible.
