The Barcelona-based nonprofit Talking Galleries and the art advisory firm Schwartzman & Associates, with Loring Randolph as Programming Director, announce the first edition of its New York art world symposium.

Taking place on April 4 and 5, 2022, at the Gilder Lehrman Hall at The Morgan Library & Museum, the conference will tackle the significant issues facing the art world today, with an international roster of nearly 50 top-level speakers.

By bringing together museum directors, gallerists, curators, artists, scholars, journalists, non-profit leaders, auction house and art fair executives, the program will debate topics such as the impetus for institutional change in art museums; New York City’s position in the art world; responses to the turmoil in recent political and the climate crisis; developments in the art infrastructures of Africa and East Asia; trends in gallery practices; the ongoing rise of data-driven art sales; innovations in patronage; and the impact of digital art technologies.

Marking its first major in-person meeting since the onset of the pandemic, Talking Galleries New York will provide an invaluable occasion for exchange and debate around the art ecosystem after the two-year disruption.

Founded in 2011, it holds an annual symposium in Barcelona and organises talks and conferences internationally, bringing together leading figures and newcomers to the art world to debate the possible impact of current challenges, share experiences, raise concerns, and re-think existing models.

About Schwartzman & Associates
Schwartzman & Associates was established in mid-2021 in offices in New York City’s Dia Art Foundation building. Serving the full spectrum of individuals and organizations, private and public, and involved in forming, assessing, or rethinking the possibilities of art collections, S&A is committed to a highly personal, dialogue-based process, providing a new and more elastic model of what an art advisory service can do and how it may function.
