ART OnO, a newly established international art fair, commences in April 2024 at SETEC, Seoul, South Korea. Founded by JaeMyung Noh, a prominent figure in both domestic and international art scenes, ART OnO aims to set higher standards as Seoul evolves into a global art hub, providing a platform to showcase a diverse array of works from established artists to emerging artists.

Operating under the value of “Young and Fresh, but Classy,” ART OnO prioritizes quality over pricing or brand recognition. It endeavors to offer a broad spectrum of artwork, catering to the varied tastes of collectors and visitors worldwide. By cultivating a unique identity as an art fair and brand, ART OnO seeks to enhance its international reputation by expanding the networks of participating artists and galleries.

Featuring around 40 galleries, ART OnO showcases works ranging from blue-chip artists to emerging talents. Galleries from Korea include ARARIO GALLERY, GALLERY2, Gallery Baton, KICHE, PIBI GALLERY, A-L, and Gana Art. Galleries from overseas include Mariane Ibrahim Gallery, Esther Schipper, Kosaku Kanechika, Tang Contemporary Art, MISAKO & ROSEN, and Galerie Chantal Crousel. Many of these overseas galleries are making their debut in Korea through ART OnO. Notably, Mariane Ibrahim Gallery, a globally renowned gallery known for its unique programs, joins the fair after a hiatus of 1 year and 6 months since concluding Art Basel Miami in 2022. Additionally, Pearl Lam Galleries from Hong Kong returns to Korea after four years, and Galerie Zink returns after thirteen years, indicating the growing interest of overseas galleries in the rapidly expanding Korean art market.

During the fair, participants can partake in various programs, including talks, special exhibitions, docent programs, and kids programs. Talks feature experts from diverse fields such as architecture, film, music, literature, and more, engaging in discussions that encompass not only art but also broader cultural aspects of society. Additionally, there are talks by emerging artists, young curators, and critics, providing fresh perspectives on artworks and their emerging generation.

A unique feature of ART OnO is its programs tailored for children, designed to foster emotional development and cultivate their aesthetic tastes. Through these initiatives, ART OnO aims to cultivate and nurture children’s interest in art.

A highlight of ART OnO is the special exhibition titled OyO (Once you Own it), presenting media art—a genre typically challenging to encounter at art fairs. Directed by Mihee Ahn, former director of Gyeonggi Museum of Modern Art, the exhibition features single-channel videos, performance arts, video installations, and NFTs. This aligns with ART OnO’s objective of not only focusing on art investment (Art-tech) but also fostering global art trends and facilitating interaction among art enthusiasts. Rarely seen media artworks, such as Yang Ah Ham’s “Invisible Clothes,” and Ndayé Kouagou’s human-scale works, featured in solo exhibitions in Palais de Tokyo last year, will be unveiled in this special exhibition.

Lastly, in addition to docent programs and private collection openings, various other events are scheduled throughout the fair period.

Admission tickets for ART OnO can be purchased at the official website (www.art-ono.com). General admission is 50,000 won, while students, holders of Culture Nuri Card, ART PASS, and members of the Korean Fine Arts Association can purchase tickets at 25,000 won. Group discounts (for 10 or more people) are available at 40,000 won.
